I study architecture because I'm inspired by the connection between the built and the natural environment. A devoted surfer, walker, camper, explorer and tinkerer, I have always been interested in the link between the built and the natural environment. How each makes people happy, work and live better, and seek connection.
In order to work well, Architecture should inspire its occupants to engage with the landscape in which it is located. Buildings and spaces, I believe, must be sensitive to both people and place, be environmentally and thoughtfully resolved.
I have also collaborated with fellow student of architecture on the design of a detached studio in coastal Iluka. This project allowed us to explore spatial functions, construction methods, design principles and client relationships. The design is responsive to the site and demonstrates an understanding of the climatic conditions of the area, which experiences heavy rainfall and dry summers where bushfire is a pervasive threat.
During this time, I also worked as a sole designer. This engagement encouraged me to develop a return brief that I have been able to deliver to prospective clients to help them express their visions with the project.
In 2022, my partner and I performed a vehicular circumnavigation of Country. We explored Australia in the back of an old Hilux, living on the land in a swag. We learnt about the importance of orientation, environmental conditions, good design and how we could gain lessons from the landscape and use it to our benefit.
In between adventures I have been assisting the Ozetecture Foundation with the annual Glenn Murcutt Masterclass. This ongoing role has provided me with invaluable experiences from established architects and a unique way of appreciating the world.
Since 2015 I have completed two undergraduate design courses in Interior Design and Architecture. I am used to working in small firms with close proximity to the directors and clients. My work experience has spanned Sydney to northern NSW regions. Working in small specialist teams has allowed me to be present from conception to construction. I've relished this hands on experience and now look forward to exploring larger public and civic based projects that affect a wide range of people.

Student and designer within an ever-changing urban context
Working in Architecture firms over the past several years has given me the opportunity to experience all aspects of the design process on projects of varying size. I have presented sketch designs to clients, drawn and discussed master sets for DA and documented detailed drawings for CC. I enjoy working under pressure and taking responsibility for work that I have produced.
A passion for the built environment, a broad range of experience in architectural practices and a decade in retail has honed my interpersonal skills, giving me the confidence to approach and engage with anyone, listen to their needs, design solutions and build loyalty and trust.
